Well, the listening party came and went for The Mystic Crib, which releases on Friday. Overall, I had fun listening to the album and chatting with friends through Bandcamp and responding to folks on TikTok.
I think the Bandcamp aspect was pretty cool. I had about 10 folks join in, so more than I expected. With my expectations at 0, it was easy to impress me. The only function other than playing the music is a live chat. It would have been nice to be able to add video or something to that. Regardless, it was fun and happy that friends jumped on to listen and chat.
TikTok is weird. Well, it felt weird just listening to the album with people watching me. On average, there were about 8 people watching. Started out at around 3 people, then about 25 minutes in it spiked to like 250 or so, and then quickly trailed off. Had a few interactions. It was fun too, just different. I lost connection halfway through, but was able to reconnect.
I’ll likely do it again for the next one. I may try and do a livestream of me playing some of the songs, but that’ll be weird since this album is full blown with different instruments. I bought a drum machine, so maybe I can program it and see what happens.
