Well, I was able to push myself through some anxiety and make it to the Howling Giant and Restless Spirit show last night at Club Dada. Glad I went, as it was a great show and ran into Anton, Deb, and Christian.
I have not heard of Restless Spirit before this show, so it was a fresh intro for me. To me, they are more of a metal band with some old school and stonerish vibes. More on the up tempo side of things. I enjoyed their set, and I believe they said they closed with Wonderwall? Couldn’t be the same one, but I wouldn’t really know since I can’t say I’ve intentionally listened to that mess.
This is my second time seeing Howling Giant. I feel lucky since both times I’ve seen them they have had their keys player, who apparently lives in DFW (he had on a Fort Worth Sound shirt). I don’t think they typically have him on the road based on their social media posts. Like my album review, the keys were mixed great into their sound.
You could tell they were stoked to have keys for this gig. High energy and a superb set. I’m not good with keeping track of set lists, so maybe next time I’ll snag a photo of it if they even use them.
Anyway, glad I went. Grabbed some merch from each band to help support them since they’re on the road. If they’re coming through your area, it is definitely worth going out to see them.
