Temptress and Land Mammal Recap

Two shows in one week? Man, I’m getting adventurous! Not really, but hey, whatever. This show was too close to home not to go. Temptress and Land Mammal played at Big Rob’s, which seems to be a pool hall with a stage. First time there for me. Seems like it could be a cool place, but was kind of dead last night.

Land Mammal

Land Mammal opened the show. Pretty solid set. I enjoy their psych rock sound. I’ve got one of their albums on cassette, but this is the first time seeing them live. I don’t think they play out much. Worth seeing live if you get the chance.

There were two other bands on the bill that were touring through. I kind of listened, but didn’t really get into. Nothing against those bands, just not much into general rock or rock/blues. If you start playing a blues standard sounding song, I’m likely to tune out. Just a preference on my part.

Temptress

Temptress closed out the night. Fantastic set, had me bobbing my head in metal head agreement the whole way. Their sound is hard to pin down, as they can sound metal, stoner, punk, and sludge all in one song. They’ve done some extensive touring the past year, and you can tell. They are locked in as a group the whole set, and put it all on the stage. Great fun!

Glad I made it out. Now, back to work!
