Show Recap: Temptress, Destroyer of Light, The Deep, Stone Machine Electric

Saturday’s show was a good one! It was a fun night playing and listening to music with friends.

Stone Machine Electric

We, Stone Machine Electric, opened up the show with a four song, thirty minute set. It was our first time at Three Links, so for me, it was great finally getting to play on that stage. I hope we get asked back. Seemed like we got a good response, so that is always appreciated.

The Deep

I hadn’t heard of The Deep until this show. The Deep is a doom-sludge band based here in DFW. They had a great set. I’d say they were more on the sludge/metal spectrum, but either way, they had some great riffs and owned the stage.

Destroyer of Light

Destroyer of Light hail from Austin, Texas. Along with Temptress, they did a DFW run of shows over this past weekend. Hopefully anyone local reading this caught one of these shows. At first glance, they come off as a doom band, but there is so much more to their sound. I’ve been following these guys for years, and it’s always a great show! They’ve lived on the road, so they bring it every time. If you see them on a bill, don’t skip it.

Temptress

First, big thanks to Christian and Temptress for asking us to play this show! Temptress is another band not to miss, and I’m sure you’ll see them hitting the road next year. They hammered out another great set! I always love the back and forth between Kelsey and Christian’s vocals. Andi tears that kit up and keeps them in motion. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Deep Ellum was bumping that night. The only dread was load in and load out. Maneuvering around pedestrians and traffic is not fun, but the evening itself made it worth it.
