So to pick up where I left off, here is part 3 of my top albums of the year. I may have already said it, but I’m sure there are plenty of albums I’ve missed this year. Don’t hold that against me, or the fact that I may place albums differently than you. This is just my personal list.

Stoned Jesus’s latest album, Father Light, is a great work of progressive stoner psych. I realized it has been a minute since I’ve listened to it, so I’ll likely spin it soon.

I recently reviewed this album, and it was one of those that was initially “meh” but quickly changed in my head and now is in my top 10. Guess that’s a good reminder to give things a second listen since your headspace may not be ready at first encounter. Great heavy album with a hidden heart of punk (to me, anyway).

I’m friends with most of the folks in this band, but that’s just a bonus for me since this is a great album. Even got to play a show with them (with Stone Machine Electric) this past year. Great doom metal from Texas!

I dig some of the percussion albums that have come out by the likes of Dave and other drummers in recent years (I keep going back to Hew Time with Dale Crover, Coady Willis, and Joe Plummer). Being a drummer and shitty multi-instrumentalist, I’m down for a drum oriented album in this vein. Highly recommended.

I feel it wouldn’t be a great list for me if I didn’t have some sort of ambient album, and this one is great! Also love this album cover. Maybe I should do a list of my favorite album covers of the year.
Only 5 left to go. I’ll post that next week if I don’t forget since I’ll be off work for the holidays.
