One of the things I do is buy music, typically in CD or vinyl format, and sometimes cassette because I still think they are cool since my earliest obsession with music was via cassette. I’m old. Anyway, one thing that inevitably happens nowadays is I buy an album on CD and end up wishing I bought the vinyl version instead. Because I’m cheap, I only buy vinyl for albums I really dig the band or ones I really like. This is one of those albums.
An Earlier Time is a great mix of stoner, grunge, and spacey music. This album has a strong 90s sound to it but fits well in the present musical landscape of the heavy underground. This 8 song journey is killer from start to finish.
The standout track on this album, for me, is Prehistoric Liftoff. The riff and the vocals are fantastic. I feel like I’ve been saying it a lot recently, but this band does give off that Soundgarden sound with the vocals. Not quite on Chris Cornell’s level, but it’s still excellent. I must miss Soundgarden or something.
