It’s not really a mod, but more of an addition to my kit in the studio. Sounds like I’m starting off with no information, but that’s how I function sometimes. To get past the vagueness, I’ll add the info that I’ve added a china cymbal to my kit.
Not that it’s really a big deal, but the folks who know me know I’ve not ever been a fan of them. However, I do think they have a use. My aversion came around back in the 1900s (i.e. 90s) when it seemed like everyone was using them. Some folks treated them like a ride cymbal. That drove me bonkers, and thus the aversion.
But in the now, I’ve decided to add one and see if I can incorporate it. That will be the hard part for my ears. Who knows, maybe I’ll get a gong next.
You may also have noticed the sample pad. I’ve had it for a few months. The plan it to use it to add other percussion sounds and also samples. The only struggle I am having is getting samples with a small enough file size. It uses wav files and is limited to 14 MB per “kit.” That’s pretty restrictive if you want to use samples that are longer than 2-3 seconds. I’ll figure something out.
