It’s been a week, but who cares. Yes, I have not posted this week until today, but that’s OK. Anyway, here’s my recap.

Chemical Spell kicked off this show. They describe themselves as Motorpsych from Dallas. I guess that fits. Their set seemed to get that, kind of a mix of stoner metal and punk from my perspective. Their approach seemed to have a bit of a comedic side, but maybe leaning more towards a fun energy feel. Dug their set.

I always find it funny how you can tell when a band isn’t going to stick around the whole night when they end their set by saying, “Stick around for the other bands.” They left while we (Stone Machine Electric) were setting up. But in their defense, they did message me to let me know they had an emergency. No big deal to me, I just think it’s funny how when that phrase is uttered, the band doesn’t stick around.

Wyndrider came all the way from Tennessee to play at the doom fest down in Houston, so I helped with finding the venue for this show. They are a stoner doom band, and their set reflected that. They tackled their Sabbath influenced sound with great female vocals. The band is also friendly and a cool hang in between sets. Would recommend you catch them if they are playing a show near you.

Thanks to Chloe from Wyndrider for sharing the above photo of us. We played about a 45-minute set with 7 songs. I was thinking this is weird compared to our sets from before the pandemic where we would play 2-3 songs in the same kind of time frame. I’ve got a video of this set, which maybe I’ll post bits of. Maybe.
Overall, it was a fun night. It being rainy that day kind of squashed attendance, but who cares.
