NEU!

I recently posted about Negativland, so I was curious how they came up with their band name. I originally thought maybe it was just a combined word with a purposefully removed “e”. Apparently, that was not the case.

Negativland and the label they created, Seeland, were pulled from song titles from the Krautrock band Neu! So, this past week, I’ve been listening to the three albums they put out in the 70s. Very good music! I will say there is only a little bit of influence of them I hear in Negativland. Some of Neu!‘s music does have found sound or samples, but it is mostly Krautrock with a signature beat that they refer to as an “Apache” rhythm. Nevertheless, they are highly recommended!
