Review: Ekstasis by Mark Cook/Steven Leak

I’ve been listening to Ekstasis for the past few days. Based on the description noted on Bandcamp, this is a collage of sounds distorted, mixed, tweaked, and reconfigured to create this ambient collection of soundscapes.

I’ve mainly listened to this first thing in the morning while working. If you’re not paying attention, you may not notice the switch from one song to the next. There’s a consistent vibe that merges the tracks together beautifully. To me, that’s what you sometimes want in an ambient work, for it to flow as you let your mind float or as a way to reinforce your train of thought while doing something. In my case, that was work, blah!

It’d be nice to see some video accompanying these songs. It gives off a deep space vibe or even a space horror soundtrack aura. Highly recommend.
