I’m know there is a ton of new music I missed in 2024. At least at this time of year, I can comb through the various “end year” lists blogs and folks put out. The first one I go to is JJ’s at The Obelisk. I mostly listen to stoner rock, heavy psych, and doom. Maybe I should find a similar blog for ambient and experimental music.
From JJ’s list, I am currently spinning Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats latest Nell’ Ora Blu. I’ve never paid much attention to this band, but this album gives off an old horror/thriller soundtrack vibe that I dig. The songs also meander in style in a way that keeps the mood shifting but still cohesive in context to each other.
Brume’s latest, Marten, is also worth checking out, as well as releases from Slomosa and Vokonis. Maybe I’ll review these when I get a chance. Will definitely have some “free time” on my flights to/from Japan later this month.
