I got an old assemblage of drums back from my friend Shane a year or so ago. So, from that, I’ve decided to put together a second Slingerland kit.

From the shells received, it contained a 1960’s Slingerland kick drum, 2 1970’s Rogers concert toms, and an old floor tom. The floor tom was busted, so that went in the trash.
From my current Slingerland set, I have an extra floor tom I don’t use. So, I’ll use the 18′ for the SME kit and use the 16″ for this “new” kit. I also have a 13″ tom that was never assembled from that kit after I refinished it. It’s been sitting in the studio with masking tape still on it. Some peeling and a little Goo Gone cleaned that up.

I spent a day this past weekend cleaning up the hardware for the kick drum. There’s a lot of peeled chrome and pitting, but it’ll work for me. I was going to replace the T-shaped tension rods with standard ones, but I’ve had no luck finding a matching length. Guess we’ll keep those too.
Now, I’m just waiting on a bunch of miscellaneous parts to arrive, and I can assemble the drums. I do need to find some T bolts for the kick leg hardware, if that is even possible. Right now, some random allen bolts are in there. Not user-friendly.
