In the search for something new to listen to, I stumbled across the latest from Electric Citizen, titled EC4. By stumble, I mean I saw it on The Obelisk’s website. More like I saw it in JJ’s feed.

In this album, Electric Citizen showcases that 60s-70s rock sound. Think solid guitars and that buzzing organ just ahead of the background.
Mire, Static Vision, and Smokey are a great start to showcase that sound. Smokey has a greater vocal flex and brings out a little heavier breakdown with a quick solo and rolling riff with guitar and organ.
Traveler’s Moon follows with a slightly somber intro before bringing more of the rock out, with kind of a Jethro Tull inspiration. Tuning Tree gets even more somber with the vocal and acoustic guitar and a cello sounding instrument rounding out the sound.
Phased guitar riffage rolls the album into the start of Moss. Still slightly mellow, and works well with the guitar before the heavier riff hits, changes, and goes into this mystic type segueway. Some Sabbathian riffage opens up Lizard Brain and has that great quiet/loud dynamic through the song. Great organ solo to boot!
Other Planets does have that spacey sound you’d expect from the song title. More in a slowly exploring the cosmos, and not aliens on acid sound. Flower of Salt rounds out the album. Love the atmospheric background sound, and I can’t tell what it is. An acoustic guitar closer, and a good way to leave you wanting more.
