Review: The Greenseer by Good Spirits

It was happenstance that I came across this album. Good Spirits reached out to Stone Machine Electric through Facebook Messenger about swapping some shows. They came across us via the Doomed Nation interview we did. Anyway, good jams!

The Greenseer by Good Spirits

Goodbye opens the album as an instrumental track and smoothly transitions into Believe, which is a pensive but hopeful sounding song.  The vocals are more the focus, and that is consistent throughout the album. The guitar holds back but hits when the time is right.

The tone of the album is cohesive to the point that you don’t realize the next song rolls in. More Spores comes in with a rolling bass line and subdued guitar. But, in between verses, the guitar brings on a bit of noise that fits perfectly. Echo maintains the album’s aesthetic and brings in a bit more heavy on the guitar. Waves brings a different guitar approach with a lot of swells and siren type sounds during the verses.

Mt. Deluran (Infinite Ledges) starts with an almost Pink Floyd-ish intro before diving into some heavier riffage. It serves as an instrumental segueway into the closer Smoke & Mirrors. It starts off with distorted bass before the guitar quickly joins. The music does a start/stop at the lines of the verses. I dig the way that flows.

Go give these guys a listen. Hopefully, we are able to swap some shows with them.
