New Patterns

So far, so good, so what. But really, it seems my intense cutback on social media is going well. I’m not sure if I should expect any sort of withdrawal symptoms. Let’s hope not.

Mug, mug, mug

There’s plenty of things to enjoy online, but I’ve become tired of the “sinister” evolution of how they work. It also seems like a “bait and switch” game. You see stuff you like, but that is maybe 20% of the time. Having to work on your algorithm seems like too much work, and I’ve got plenty of that without having to do it online.

My new usage pattern revolves around band stuff. That’s been most of the reason for being on social media for me – band promotion. Yes, it’s nice seeing friends’ current ongoings and memes and such, but shit, you can text me that shit or give me a call. My introverted ass might answer.

Nowadays, I will post once a day and check any notifications for the bands. In the evening, I’ll do another quick round of notification checks on the band accounts to see if there are any comments or messages. I’m sure all the band marketing gurus are giving me the stinkeye. I don’t give a shit. At this point, ain’t no one beating down my door with record deals or invitations to a big fest or anything. Just email me, anyway.

I’ve been using the “new free time” to do more productive things. Straightening up the studio, cataloging the music collection, cleaning up the yard, and many other things. Guess maybe I could blog more. Definitely making better use of my turntable, too.
