This past Thursday evening was a fun one, even though I ran into some technical difficulties.

This was one of those shows where the venue requested/required the bands to share drum kits. I didn’t get word of that until the day of and the order of the lineup to boot. I thought we (Headeraser) were first, but no, we were second. No worries. We used The Infamists drum kit, and Slumbering Sun and Insomniac shared Insomniac’s kit. Everyone used Slumbering Sun’s cabinets.

The Infamists opened the show. These gents are always on top of their game. They run the gamut of rock: rock n roll, metal, boogie, stoner rock, and whatever else they can wedge into their repertoire. It works, and it’s all great!

We (Headeraser) followed up. I ended up not using any of my electronics because there was a sound issue. It ended up being a microphone cable was bad. I just went without so as to not waste more time. Mike was in town, so he joined us for this one, and that is always fun and adds to the depth of our sound. The stage at Armoury DE was on the small side, so it was fun fitting up there. I think we did a solid set, for the most part. I flubbed a little in the first few, just getting over the initial adrenaline rush and familiarizing myself with Ryan’s drum set.

Insomniac went on after us. They brought a unique heavy psych sound. Dual vocals along with a bit of a post-rock sound at times. A non-stop set flowing song to song.

Slumbering Sun rounded out the night, sans James. Kelsey did a superb job translating her voice into the Slumbering Sun songs since James was not able to make this show. Great, intense set, and I always love the way they use the two guitar setup to give it that deeper sound.
Great night! I’m down in Austin as of this post resting up from the Friday night at Ripplefest and prepping for today’s lineup. Say hi if you see me there. My weird nature always keeps me from saying hi first. Don’t know why, but that’s me.
