Review: Liminality/Dream State Return by Elder

Elder pumped out an EP. As noted on Bandcamp, these were a couple of tracks they revisited in 2024 and reworked. My thoughts?

Liminality/Dream State Return by Elder

I’ve been listening to Elder since their first album. They have somewhat of a formula, but it is rooted in composition more than sound or genre. Their style has morphed with each album. Liminality/Dream State Return slows that a bit. It seems to have combined aspects of Innate Passage with Nick’s solo project Delving, specifically the album All Paths Diverge. It has that prog-ish/kraut-ish feel.

Two tracks logging in around 18 minutes is halfway to a full album. No complaints, other than maybe having vinyl on their Bandcamp. I think Armageddon Shop is sold out.

There’s also a video to accompany this release. I should go watch it, maybe you should too.
