I’ve seen this band name around for a while. Over the summer, Small Stone Records had a sale on records and CDs. So, I grabbed a few things, and Drone Maintenance by Blackwolfgoat was one of those.

The name of the album was appealing since I love me some drone. I was curious if it would be, because it is just a word and the album cover does depict the album title. I could have researched the artist, especially in this day and age, but I didn’t and decided to be surprised. Pleasantly, I was.
Blackwolfgoat is a solo experimental artist, kind of like what I do. His stuff is guitar based with looping as the main tool for the vehicle.
Drone Maintenance was released in 2014, so it’s a bit late for an in-time review. However, it is among the types of drone I enjoy. It has that mellowy Earth tone without being Earth. Samples or spoken word sprinkled in sparingly and in the right places. Pseudo-soloing without sounding like a guitar solo, and definitely not noodling just to noodle.
I could, and have, easily hit repeat as I work or just driving around to work or to run errands. Looking forward to checking out the rest of the catalog.
