Temple of Love have been around for a few years, and they’ve finally put out their first full length album, Songs of Love and Despair. Temple of Love lean more to that dark wave sense, but still have a bit of heavy supporting this creation.

I’m familiar with Steve and Suzy’s previous or other bands, so I’ve followed them into this joint venture. As noted above, Temple of Love leans into that 80s gothic, guitar-driven sound. I’d say Steve’s tenure in Destroyer of Light is present in the guitar tone, but only in the thickness with the heavy undertones. It sounds like he is playing a stray style guitar, but I can still hear that doom looming in the tone.
Suzy’s vocals work well for this style, and even brings a bit of soulfulness to the direction they are going. I think that is a welcome depth added.

The intro track, Temple of Love, is a standout tracks for me. Carrion Queen and If We Could Fly also catch my attention. Songs of Love and Despair is a great album blending some great goth rock sounds with a refreshing take. Give it a listen, and bury yourself in the sounds.
