Eternity’s Pillars b/w Raise the Chalice & Reverential by SUNN O)))

This release was not on my radar, but was happy to see the Bandcamp email pop into my inbox with it. Only downside is that I preferred to get it on CD, but vinyl is OK, I guess. I’m picky on when I’ll grab something on vinyl. But, I’m listening to this right now through the Bandcamp app while flying to Cleveland.

Hopefully I don’t blow out my ears listening to Eternity’s Pillars b/w Raise the Chalice & Reverential by SUNN O))) while flying. Cranking it almost full volume to drown out any air noise and such.

I love the noise SUNN O))) generates. It’s more of an experience to see them live versus listening to a recording. But, I dig being able to listen to those frequencies and tones and just let them meld into my head. These tracks do just that, meld into my brain and give me a calming sensation. I don’t subscribe to the “spiritually” that is suggestive of music like this, or any for that fact. Though, music does evoke an emotional reaction for me. I just don’t get anything intangible or other worldly from any music. But, I love music for its emotional and gratifying value.

I will say I wish this album was longer. Even Eternity’s Pillars seems short at almost 14 minutes. Even though it is only heavy guitars and such, it feels brief. No complaints other than that. I’ll listen to it some more, and likely annoy the Mrs with the record at home.
