David Byrne Show Recap

The Mrs and I went to the David Byrne concert over the weekend. It was a fun show!

The concert was at the Fair Park Music Hall. This was the first time I’ve been there. Great sound and well designed for it. It was built in 1925. The seat spacing was tight, but fortunately we had a whole row to ourselves. A staff worker even came over and offered us a slightly closer seat, but our seats were just fine.

The show ran just under 2 hours. I think we recognized half the set. No clue if the unrecognized songs were Talking Heads songs or stuff off his latest album. Regardless, great stuff! They did play the Mrs favorite song, This Must Be the Place, and I kind of hoped he’d play Cities so I  could go “hey, they played that Phish song” to myself.

The show was sort of a marching band type thing. The whole band were always walking around the stage. I’m sure they got at least 8,000 steps in during the show. I think the set was floor and wall screens. I first thought maybe it was projections, but there were never any shadows. The visuals were on point.

Best zoom I could get.

Definitely worth seeing if he comes through your area.
