I’ve been listening to Megadeth since at least 1990, if not before. That being said, I haven’t listened to anything from Dave since Youthanasia. Well, I may have ran through their discography sometime last year.
This is not really a review of the latest album, Megadeth, but maybe more of me just babbling about it. I listened to it a few times, and it is a good album. I don’t see it as anything unexpected or out of the ordinary for what a Megadeth album would be. And, I have no issue with his version of Ride the Lightning. OK by me.
I’ll always be of the opinion that Rust in Peace is the best Megadeth album. Front to back it is a great album. I remember being in school and a friend had it on cassette. He didn’t like it, so he gave it to me. I played the shit out of it.
I may still have the guitar magazine that has Holy Wars… The Punishment Due tabs. I could half-ass play the guitar intro on that. Fucking thrash. Now, I play slow, mellow-ish riffs, but I still dig the thrash.
