The Human League

Every once in a while I decide to go through a band’s discography. Most of the time it is a  band I’ve always listened to. Today, I decided to start going through The Human League’s records. I’m only familiar with two songs by this band.

Dare by The Human League

Instead of starting at the beginning, I started with their third release, Dare. It has the song song Don’t You Want Me on it. Overall, I enjoyed the listen. Growing up on MTV in the 80s, it came with flashbacks. Made me think of going to the mall during Christmas season or when it was time to get new clothes for school at Sears or JC Penny.

I was a bit disappointed that none of the other songs featured the female vocals as much. As I’ve said before, dig the texture that brings to a song.

I do think it is kind of cool that Don’t You Want Me is a pop song, but at the same time incorporates such an ominous synth line. Besides the vocals, that’s what drew me to want to give them a deeper listen.

I’ve only listened to Dare, and I started listening to Reproduction, their first album. I guess I’ll hear how that goes.
