Had a fun time last night at Growl. Always great to see a few familiar faces, especially when I’m playing my weirdo-folk-drone-gaze music.
I kicked off the show. The sun was still setting, so it took a minute for my visual backdrop to really register. Might need to invest in a backer for the screen, or at least a black sheet to attach to it. For my set, I played Entrances & Exits, Crush, As I Stare, Totems, Escape, and Scarecrows. I flubbed a bit in Escape, but overall it went pretty well. Someone asked me for my setlist, but I did not have one written out. But I did have lyric sheets with me, so they were happy to get that.
Be the Cancer played next. They are a two-piece stoner/doom/alternative band from Fort Worth. Great stoner rock vibes for sure. Fun set, goes well with beer!
Silver Womb closed out the show. Local doom metal. Always cool seeing younger folks getting into the doom!
