Show Recap: Tomahawk & the Melvins

Ah, a weekday show. Will I be miserable Wednesday morning? Doesn’t matter. I’ve seen the Melvins once, and I’ve not seen Tomahawk. I’m a Mike Patton fan, so there I went.

The Granada Theater

Returning back to the Granada Theater for this one. I think the last time was for Boris, if I remember correctly.

The Melvins

The Melvins put on a solid 1 hour onslaught of heavy riffage with the dual drummer lineup. At the end of their set, Trevor Dunn joined in to finish the pummeling. Worth the price of admission alone.

Coady Willis & Dale Crover

I saw them like 10 years ago with Jeff Pinkus on bass, but still with the Dale/Coady drumming duo.

Tomahawk

Tomahawk soon followed. They went through their cavalcade of music, hitting metal to country tinged tuneage. I’ve listened to their albums recently, but can’t say I’m that familiar. Still, a great performance. I did recognize …God Hates a Coward, which they played as part of their encore.

Mike Patton

Tour recently started, so go see it if it comes through your town. I think a lot of the dates are sold out.
