Decided to head to the local doom show tonight at Growl. I make it sound so present tense fully knowing I’m posting this after the event has occurred. Eh.

Be the Cancer opened the show. Well, half the band anyways. Sounds like the drummer has been overworked and still working, so Dan just brought on board the drum tracks and jammed along.

The Infamists rolled in next. For a band claiming to be the least doom band on the bill, they apparently had no issues writing a song about a dragon with the doomiest bridge ever. Fucking teases.

Then it was Volume Ritual. 3/5ths Orthodox Fuzz reimagined into a doomy King Diamond/Judas Priest. At least that is the vibe I got from the high register vocals over doomy riffs. I believe this was also their first show, so congrats!

Grandelusion closed the show. Ending the night on the grunge side of the stoner/doom spectrum. Making it a great evening of music!

And that is how you start a post in present tense and end in past tense.

“1/2 the cancer” lol. Some week ass chemo there. Thanks for supporting local music. Mark is a legend.
