I preordered White Sands by Serial Hawk once the email from Bandcamp landed in my inbox.
I ordered the vinyl, and it showed up a week or so before the release date. It came with a sticker, and that is what some of you donuts need to learn to do – labels too! You dig?
I got introduced to Serial Hawk when they played here locally with Destroyer of Light at Three Links. Great show, great band. The sound of them at the time was more heavy and sludge-like compared to the feel of White Sands. That show was around their album Searching for Light was out.
For me, White Sands has a heavy post rock feel, almost jumping into that Pelican or Russian Circles territory. Glad I ordered the vinyl, as this one resonates with me. Love the more noticeable dynamics in this album compared to Psychic Pain from last year.
Going to need a few more spins to be able to soak it in. You should, too.
