Octave Troubles

I’ve been noticing the speakers on the bass side of my rig have been sounded distorted and almost blown. That’s not cool.

Apparently, based on my “extensive” Google research, octave pedals can produce a massive sub-bass frequency that the bass speakers aren’t meant to handle. Say what!? I noticed it clipping on my amp. And that is with the volume and gain at about a 2.5.

Fortunately, it was an easy fix. It just took me some time dialing in the octave pedal to where I can get the bass sound I want and not cause the amp to clip. I was about to get a new cabinet thinking the speakers were toast, so that saves me the money for other things.
