This whole thing going on is funny to me. Mainly because I’ve never been a purist when it comes to the roster of a band. I get what people are saying, but I personally don’t care.
I checked out the new single dropped by Sleep, titled Have Spacesuit Will Travel. Just taking the song at face value, it’s just a song, it is a pretty good tune. Definitely Sabbath inspired, and I like the addition of the synthesizer. It’s no Dopesmoker, but still a good song.
Seems like the whole internet focus is on the absence of Matt Pike. Can you hear it? For sure. Does it matter? Like I said, I personally don’t care. In a thousand years when we’ve made the earth unlivable for humans, it won’t fucking matter. It doesn’t matter now. My thought is that if it was released under a new band name, people would be slurping this shit up.
By the way, I don’t get people saying it sounds like Om.
