For the past couple of weeks I’ve been cranking Fantasia, the latest from French rockers Slift.
Maybe it’s the holiday weekend, maybe it is this state of stupid dystopia, but this offering from Slift gives me Fugazi vibes. The energy in the vocal delivery helps with that sense. The music not be straight up stoner rock, but more of a blend of 90s-esque alternative rock with a message deeper than what your hearing.
I could be totally wrong. I’ll admit I don’t focus on lyrical content that much. I’m more driven to listen to the total noise landscape of a song or album. Fantasia is the noise, the energy, and the heaviness I dig at this moment. It will likely be one of my favorite albums this year.
