Show Recap: Buried Under the Shed, Slow Draw, and Videshi

Well, three months later and I made another trek to Austin for Metal Monday at Far Out Lounge put on by Lick of My Spoon Productions. The Mrs came again to hang, carry gear, and have fun while I do the musician thing.

Hitting the road

We ran into Austin friends Kirk, who recently moved to Austin, and Donna, who here and her husband are friends with tons of the scene’s musicians.

Videshi

Videshi opened the show. He brought the metal, giving me an 80s type vibe. Except when he brought out the 7 or 8 string guitar (didn’t count, but more strings). Gave me a bit of that djent feeling when he palm muted and hit that low string.

Slow Draw

I took the middle spot and did my thing. Here’s my set list.

  • Entrances & Exits
  • Crush
  • Totems
  • Serpent as Hero
  • Scarecrows

Apparently, my space echo got bumped and was doing too much echo in Scarecrows. Halfway through, I was able to adjust it down so it didn’t sound like a freaky tremelo anymore. Other than that, fun set!

Buried Under the Shed

Buried Under the Shed closed the show. They put on a fun and energetic heavy rock show. The guitarist was having issues with something in his setup, as it kept cutting out. Like a pro, he just ran with it and made it work.

Fun night overall! Glad to make it out to Austin to play a show, even on a Monday.
