This one is a turn to something different from what I regularly review, but not from things that I do listen to.
If you’re looking for something that sounds like Frank Zappa (Dweezil is featured on the title track) and Phish (pre Farmhouse) got together and wrote some songs and then forgot about them, this is it. But, with way better vocals! Worm & God by Danksy is an upbeat, mellow and frantic at the same time album. I “discovered” Danksy on Instagram via funky ass reels. I saw the album came out, so I listened on Bandcamp until it told me I couldn’t, shelled out $10, and kept listening.
The noodily-ness of the guitar work is countered by the smooth flow of the vocals. That combination works to keep what sounds busy from not being. Or, at least making you perceive the composition as just a nonstop flow of melody underscored by the foundation on notes holding them up.
